Winter season in the Virgin Islands is NOT lost!

 We have great news!

Maybe you are wondering:
“When is the BVI reopening? Can we still charter a yacht in the Virgin Islands? What’s happening with travel restrictions?”

Those and many more questions have been asked in the last couple months.
Currently (November 3, 20202) BVI is still closed for tourists and unfortunately many charter vessels that offer charters in the USVI/BVI can’t operate. Here are the two main reasons why. One, BVI is closed for tourism at the moment and nobody can say with certainty when the British Islands are reopening. Two, foreign flag vessels can’t charter in the USVI.
And now the good news! August Maverick is a US flagged vessel which means that we can start and end our charters in the USVI and we can operate a full charter around Saint Croix, Saint John, and Saint Thomas, and many other surrounding minor islands!

So if you’re still thinking that your dream winter charter vacation can’t happen, think again!
Here is a sample itinerary for a week long charter!

Sample Itinerary for USVI

Day 1: Pickup at noon at American Yacht Harbor in St. Thomas. Welcome onboard with delicious lunch and sail over to famous Caneel Bay, St John for an afternoon of snorkeling or beach combing. Watch the sunset while enjoying cocktails made by Victoria followed by a fantastic meal prepared by our Chef.

Day 2: After a cup of coffee and breakfast, paddle board or kayak to Mary's Point. Time for lunch and cocktails onboard and a relaxing sail to Watermelon Cay. Visit Annaberg Sugar Mill ruins, a fun hike to a historical landmark. Dinner time and dances!

Day 3: Breakfast followed by a morning snorkel at the most popular snorkeling destination in the USVI. Set sail with Captain Shawn to Coral Bay where August Maverick has a mooring ball, right next to the famous Lime Out. Enjoy cocktails and delicious tacos from our favorite floating bar. Paddle board to Hurricane Hole or visit Princess Bay with our dinghy. Sunset with a cocktail and time for dinner from our Chef.

Day 4: Morning swim and breakfast followed by a short sail to Great Lameshur Bay. Sunbathe at the soft white beach or snorkel along the eastern side of Lameshur to see octopus, ray, barracuda, tangs, lobsters and much more. Tasty lunch is waiting for you onboard. Pick a hike of your choice in the afternoon. You can take Bay Trail to Europa Bay, The Par Force Great House ruins, petroglyphs and the Reef Bay ruins. Is it Cuba Libre time yet?

Day 5: A cup or coffee or maybe even two! Breakfast and then adventure! Time to change islands and sail to Christmas Cove, St Thomas. Legend has it that it got its name when Christopher Columbus stayed there on Christmas to hide from a storm. Great snorkeling spot and a popular destination for Pizza on the water. Pizza Pi is a 35ft sailing boat that make amazing NY style pizzas and it's ranked among the top restaurants in the USVI.

Day 6: Time to set sail to Megan's Bay, St Thomas. If you love water sports, it is the perfect bay for tubing, water skiing, paddle boarding or kayaking; some the many water toys available on August Maverick. Enjoy an afternoon at the well protected white sand beach of Megans Bay. Get ready for a signature cocktail from Victoria and a lovely dinner from our Chef.

Day 7: Rise and shine sailors! Sail to Honeymoon Beach passing Turtle Cove and Savana Island. Time for lunch and exploring the island with a golf cart! Or maybe a relaxing afternoon at the beach! Water sports for kids and relaxing evening for adults.

Day 8: Quick trip to Charlotte Amalie where you can visit Emancipation Gardens, the 99 steps and the historic Fort Christian, or enjoy a morning swim or water sports. Maybe duty free shopping at Vendor's Plaza or any of the boutiques arounds? Last cocktails and light snacks before drop-off around noon.

Just one example of the many options for an exciting full week USVI charter on August Maverick. We haven't even mentioned the wreck of the Cartanza, Buck Island, Little St. James, Carvel Rock and much much more.

And for the kids!!! - Kid friendly water sports, Victoria's delicious mocktails and fishing fun with Captain Shawn!
